An encounter is a chance to open your mind to something unfamiliar

About Me

Michael Edwards

Hey! My name is Mickey Edwards. After leaving school in 2013 I began writing short stories in a notepad, never really with the aim of publication or working full-time as a writer. To my surprise, then, I landed a writing role at a gaming website called Leviathyn. Here, I wrote film news and reviews for two years. Meanwhile, I found myself learning more about the craft of storytelling by writing short stories, which eventually led to me getting published in the online magazine Flashes of Brilliance

I wasn't just writing, however. I also worked part-time in a charity shop and as a freelance gardener. Many encounters I had in these environments have stayed with me for much longer than I expected. Some were moving, some funny and some, oftentimes, were quite strange. One thing I realised was that behind each encounter I was presented with a perfect a opportunity to witness another person's behaviour, to explore how that encounter affected me which in turn had me considering all kinds of moral and ethical questions.

All these experiences have led me to create a place (this site) in which I can share the stories of some of the encounters I've had: from behind the counter in the charity shop, from my time as a gardener, and from other moments in my life. My blog attempts to explore some of the layers of character and personality of the people I've met and, moreover, seeks to empathise with those who I feel are often misunderstood in mainstream society.

On this site I hope you’ll also enjoy some of the short stories I’ve written over the past eight years (some of which are published and some unpublished).
